Our Spring Dinner was at The Union League Club on April 20th. We were privileged to have as our honorary speaker George Vecsey, American non-fiction author of six national best-selling books and a New York State Sportswriter of the Year recipient, for six straight years.  A few examples of his work are: “Loretta Lynn, Coal Miner’s Daughter,” a bestseller that was made into an Academy Award-winning film and “Baseball: A History of America’s Favorite Game.”  He has also served as a national and religion reporter for The New York Times, interviewing the Dalai Lama, former British prime minister Tony Blair, American Christian evangelist Billy Graham, and many other noteworthy figures.  For nearly thirty years, Vecsey has spanned the globe covering a wide range of international sports such as the Tour de France, over a dozen Wimbledons and eight consecutive World Cups. Today, George spends his   his “semi-retirement,” writing sports columns and even published his latest book, “Eight World Cups: My Journey through the Beauty and Dark Side of Soccer.”

Cameron Mills, Host of “Cameron Mills Radio,”on iHeartRadio WLAP 630 and former University of Kentucky basketball player introduced our honored speaker. A lifelong devout Christian and minister, he started Cameron Mills Ministries and began speaking to various organizations and athletic functions across the nation.
